No. 4 Firehawks Dismantle No. 8 Knights, Advance to Final Four

Orange Beach, Ala. – The #4 University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team continued its high octane dominance on Thursday night with a 4-0 blanking of #8 Marian.

UTS got on the board three times in the opening half to punch their ticket to the semifinals on Saturday at 4 pm. Yuki Watari blazed a fifth-minute goal giving her 15 on the season. Estelle Badoedana Ekada finished a perfect ball played by Adisa Amang in the 30th minute. Three minutes later, NAIA goals leader Keito Ido scored her 36th goal of the season from the assist of Watari. The Firehawks outshot the Knights 8-0 in the first half.

Ido would add her 37th goal of the season in the 59th minute from the helper of Watari to extend the Firehawk lead to 4-0. Keeper Gabby Kennedy would add two late saves to secure the clean sheet. UTS would hold a 14-4 shot advantage.

"I am so proud of the entire squad," Coach Will Austin said. "It was a monumental defensive effort by everyone to contain a dangerous Marian attack. Credit to our forwards for clinical finishing. We are excited to make our first final four in 14 years!"

The #4 Firehawks will face the 10 seed #19 Oregon Tech on Saturday, December 4th at 4 pm. This is the first time the Firehawks will play in the NAIA semifinals since November 19th, 2007. That day UTS defeated Lee University 2-0. Oregon Tech is making their final four debut after shutting down #3 Spring Arbor 1-0 today.
