Firehawks Fall in Three to Loyola in SSAC Pool Play

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern volleyball team concluded Southern States Athletic Conference Championship play falling to the second seed Loyola 3-0 on Friday.

UT Southern (14-17) got off to a slow start in the opening set as Loyola (26-5) put together a couple of four point runs to pull away. In the second set, both teams would trade the lead four times. The WolfPack would pull away to hold a 20-15 advantage late in the set. The Firehawks would charge back to close the gap to 21-20, but LU would end the set with a 4-1 run to move to the final set. In the final set, Loyola would speed away to an 11-1 start. UT Southern couldn't get things going as the higher seed WolfPack continued to pull away.

Morgan Avrit collected 11 kills. Laura Howell added 18 assists. Hailey Walker led with nine digs.
