Avrit Leads With a Double-Double, Firehawks Sweep Season Series with Bulldogs

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern volleyball team got back in the win column defeating Fisk in four sets on Tuesday. Statistics for the road match were unavailable until 9 am Wednesday morning.

UT Southern (13-11) held the Bulldogs in check taking the first set 25-23. The home side would battle back to level the match winning the second set 21-25. The third set would come down to who won the final handful of points. The Firehawks claimed it 25-23 to lead 2-1 after three sets. In the final set, the Firehawks would burn the Bulldogs by sealing the match with a 25-12 win.

Morgan Avrit led, with a double-double performance, 19 kills and 15 digs. Emma Beardsley added 17 kills. Laura Howell gathered 25 assists, and Emma Harding notched 20 helpers. Isabella Garza led the defense with 19 digs. Hailey Walker picked up 13 and Hannah Oliver added 10 digs.

NEXT UP

UT Southern will return to the CAC for the final home stand of the year. The Firehawks will host William Carey on Friday, October 27. The match is scheduled for a 6 pm start.
