McKENZIE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern volleyball team took set one but dropped the next three in a 3-1 loss to Bethel on Tuesday.
UT Southern (12-10) traded points with the Wildcats in the first set holding on to win 26-24. Bethel (7-12) would cruise through the next two sets and wrangle off a Firehawk comeback in the fourth set.
Morgan Avrit led with 17 kills and 15 digs. Laura Howell had 36 assists and 13 digs. Three other Firehawks amassed double digit digs. Hailey Walker had 24, Isabella Garza had 16, and Hannah Oliver had 10.

UT Southern will travel to Blue Mountain, Miss., on Friday, October 20th to take on the Toppers. The first serve is set for 6 p.m.
