Ortega Records a Double-Double, Firehawks Stumble to Rams

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern volleyball team fell in straight sets to Mobile 3-0 on Friday.

UT Southern (8-7, 1-3) fell behind early in the first set, but the Rams rallied to claim the first game. In set two, the Firehawks and the Rams traded points until late in the set. UT Southern held a 20-15 advantage before Mobile (10-4, 3-1) went on a 10-3 run to close out set two. In the final set, Mobile got out to a 5-0 lead, but the Firehawks battled back to take their first lead in the final set at 13-12. Both squads would trade points until late in the match.

Morgan Avrit and Sophia Ortega led with 10 kills each. Laura Howell gathered 25 assists. Hailey Walker picked up 12 digs. Ortega (11), Hannah Oliver (10), and Avrit (10) each reached double digit digs as well.

UT Southern will host Stillman on Saturday, September 23rd. The first serve is set for 1 p.m.
