Firehawks Split Day One in Henderson

HENDERSON, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern volleyball team sent the Bearcats home in a three-set sweep (25-5, 25-11, 25-20), and fell in five sets (19-25, 22-25, 18-25, 25-22, 7-15) in the Freed-Hardeman Invite on Friday.

GAME ONE

UT Southern (4-2) quickly sped out to a huge lead took the first two sets easily. Rust (2-7) fought back in the third set, but the Firehawks stopped them in their tracks.

Morgan Avrit led with 14 kills, Laura Howell tallied 14 assists, and Hannah Oliver led with eight digs.

GAME TWO

UT Southern (4-3) split the first two sets with Northwestern Ohio (4-4). UNOH took the third set, but the Firehawks battled back to force a final set.

NEXT UP

UT Southern will conclude the Freed-Hardeman Invite tomorrow. The Firehawks will face Tougaloo at noon and Freed at 4 p.m.
