Firehawks Cage Tigers
PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern volleyball team won in straight sets (25-13, 25-22, 25-17) on Thursday (Sept. 29) against Georgetown.
The first set began neck and neck, but the Firehawks would take advantage of GC errors and take the first set handily. The second set would be a tighter set featuring six tied scores. In set three, UTS would take a 5-0 lead, but the Tigers would fight back to trail by three. UTS would slam the door shut and sprint to the finish sweeping the Tigers.
Two Firehawks had a double-double in the match. Brianna Turner led with 10 kills and 13 digs. Morgan Avrit would add 14 kills on 28 swings. Laura Howell contributed six kills, 32 assists, and 13 digs. Sophia Ortega recorded 10 digs and seven kills for the Firehawks.

Tennessee Southern will host Shawnee State on Saturday, October 1. Saturday will be Homecoming for the Firehawks. The first service is scheduled for 2 p.m.
