Firehawks Drop Final Pair in Runnin’ Eagle Classic

MARIETTA, GA. – The University of Tennessee Southern volleyball team fell in straight sets (14-25, 17-25, 14-25) on Saturday (Aug. 27) against Columbia International.

The Firehawks couldn't overcome mistakes as CIU cruised to a three-set win.

Morgan Avrit led with eight kills on 26 swings. Laura Howell recorded 15 assists for the Firehawks. Hailey Walker had 12 digs.

In match two, the Firehawks (3-5) took both the first and third sets but stumbled in the fifth set to Bryan (25-22, 22-25, 25-17, 16-25, 8-15). Just like match one of the day, errors were the Achilles heel for the Firehawks.

Hannah Oliver and Brianna Turner each led the Firehawks with 14 kills. Sophia Ortega added 13 terminations. Howell gathered 36 helpers.
