Firehawks Closeout the Inaugural Track and Field Season Out with a Strong Performance in SSAC Championship

GULF SHORES, Ala. - The University of Tennessee Southern track and field squads competed in Southern States Athletic Conference Championship on Monday and Tuesday. The Firehawks continued to set new program marks in the squad's inaugural season.

The women's team finished eighth overall out of 12 member institutions. Alyssa Andrea earned a bronze metal (All-SSAC) in the 5000m with a time of 19:21. Emma Vizina finished fifth in the 1500m with a 4:59 and fifth in the 800m at 2:28. Amelia Worsley finished fifth in the 10000m in a time of 43:54. Olivia Barksdale ran 20:03 in the 5000m and 5:28 in the 1500m. The women's relay team finished seventh in both the 4 x 800m and the 4 x 400m.
