Firehawks Log Fourth Clean Sheet in a Row, No. 11 UT Southern Flattens Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer squad multiple goals in each period to defeat Faulkner 5-nil on Thursday.   

UT Southern (12-3-2, 7-1-1) would get on the board first in the 16th minute and strike again in the 29th minute to lead 2-nil at the break. Marina Nawa bested the Eagle keeper on a Miran Sakai pass. The second goal of the half was created by Kamilia Tayebi when she found Hikaru Uchida in the box to net the second two pointer of the match. UT Southern would lead in shots 12-2.

In the final half, the Firehawks would add three more scores to the final tally. Uchida would complete a brace in the 46th minute. Nawa would also score her second goal in the match giving an assist to Maclani Michael and Tayebi.  Later in the match, Michael would net one as well when she connected with Nawa. UT Southern would outshoot Faulkner (3-7-2, 0-6-1) 24-6 and hold the shots on goal advantage 10-2.

Layken Stockstill (9-1) and Petra Brncova would share the clean sheet recording one save each.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will close out the regular season at home on Saturday, October 21st. UT Southern will host Thomas with the match set to commence at 1:30 pm.
