Katamoto and Nawa Both Net Three Each, No. 11 Firehawks Knead the Knights

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer squad extended their unbeaten streak to four with a 7-nil trouncing over Middle Georgia State on Thursday.  

UT Southern (10-3-2, 5-1-1) would score four times in the opening half. In the sixth minute, Marina Nawa would net the game winner from the Kamilia Tayebi pass. Four minutes later, Nao Katamoto would finish the Nawa lag to life the Firehawks up two. Katamoto netted a second opening half goal form the Miran Sakai pass in the 17th minute. Nawa would score her second goal with the assistance of Hikaru Uchida in the 33rd minute. UT Southern would lead in shots 9-3.

In the final half, the Firehawks would continue the rout of Middle Georgia State (2-9-3, 1-5-2). Uchida would add a goal off a Knight turnover in the 62nd minute. With the Firehawks leading 5-nil, Nawa would finish a hat trick in the 67th minute on a Katamoto pass. In the final two minutes, Katamoto completed her hat trick finishing the Karis Knaggs pass. UT Southern would outshoot the Middle Georgia State 22-9 and hold the shots on goal advantage 11-5.

Petra Brncova (3-1) and Layken Stockstill would share the clean sheet. Brncova would record five saves.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will host the Barons of Brewton-Parker on Saturday, October 14th. The SSAC match will kickoff at 1:30 p.m. UT Southern will hold senior day activities between the twin bill.
