Firehawks Jar the Jungle, No. 10 UT Southern Clean Sheets Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer led 1-nil after one half of play, and the Firehawks added three more in a 4-nil win over Mobile on Saturday.  

#10 UT Southern (7-3-1, 2-1) scored in the 18th minute when Maclani Michael finished the Miran Sakai pass netting the eventual game winner. The Firehawks led in shots at the half 24-6.

The second half was all UT Southern. The Firehawks would add a trifecta of goals to pad the final result to 4-nil. In the 50th minute, Kamilia Tayebi would launch a cross into the box that found the head of Marina Nawa. Later in the half, Hikaru Uchida would beat the Ram keeper from the help of Sakai and Nao Katamoto. In the 71st minute, Sakai would net an unassisted shot. UT Southern would lead in shots 40-11 and hold an 18-5 shot on goal margin.

Layken Stockstill (7-2-1) recorded four saves and shared the clean sheet with Hallie Cherry. Cherry recorded one save.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will return to Grissom Pitch to host Point on Thursday, September 28. The SSAC match will kickoff at 4 p.m.
