Katamoto and Saum Fuel No. 7 Firehawks Win Over Northwestern Ohio

LIMA, Ohio – The #7 University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team produced a pair of second half goals to soundly defeat the Racers 2-nil on Sunday.

Both teams couldn't get much going in the opening half, but UT Southern (4-1-1) outshot Northwestern Ohio (2-1-1) 6-4.

In the second half, the Firehawks blasted eight second half shots. In the 52nd minute, Nao Katamoto netted the game winner finishing the Marina Nawa pass. In the final six minutes, Mia Saum beat the keeper on a superbly played through ball played by Katamoto. UT Southern held the shot advantage 14-7 and 7-0 in shots on goal.

Layken Stockstill and Petra Brncova (1-1) shared the clean sheet not facing a shot.

The Firehawks will travel to Orange Beach, Ala. to face #11 Southeastern on Friday, Sept 8th at 5 p.m.
