Uchida and Katamoto Both Brace, No. 7 Firehawks Cage Cougars

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – The #7 University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team found the net five times in a 5-nil rout of Mount Vernon Nazarene on Friday.

UT Southern (3-1-1) controlled the first half outshooting the Cougars 11-4. Hikaru Uchida (assist Mia Saum) started the onslaught in the fifth minute. With a lone goal lead, Nao Katamoto would double it in the 20th minute. Katamoto would close out the brace in the 23rd minute finishing the Marina Nawa pass. UT Southern would lead 3-nil at the half.

In the second half, Mount Vernon Nazarene (1-3) would try to close the gap early on, but the Firehawks would add two more goals to seal the win. In the 73rd minute, Uchida finished her brace from the Miran Sakai lag. Nawa would mop up an Uchida pass in the 77th minute to make the final score 5-nil. UT Southern led 15-10 in shots and shots on goal 10-1.

Layken Stockstill (3-0-1) recorded one save in 33 minutes. Petra Brncova and Hallie Cherry would not face a shot during the remaining minutes.
