Vazquez Named to College Sports Communicators All-American Team

 

AUSTIN, Texas – Four standouts on the pitch and in the classroom – University of Alabama's Felicia Knox, Minnesota State University's Jenny Vetter, Westfield State University's Jenn Rennich, and Spring Arbor University's Mackenzie Selvius – highlight the 2022 Academic All- America® women's soccer teams selected by the College Sports Communicators.

 

Knox (Division I), Vetter (Division II), Rennich (Division III), and Selvius (NAIA) have each been named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for their respective divisions.

 

Division I

 

Knox, the 2022 SEC Midfielder of the Year and a United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American leads NCAA Division I with an Alabama single-season record of 20 assists. She helped the Crimson Tide to its first SEC Regular Season Championship and an appearance in the NCAA Women's College Cup. Knox, a junior from Kansas City, Mo., carries a 3.95 GPA as a hospitality management major.

 

Nineteen of the 34 members of the Academic All-America® Division I women's soccer teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 13 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.98.

 

Four student-athletes are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division I women's team – Chloe Dawson (U.S. Naval Academy), Delaney Graham (Duke University), Jadyn Edwards (University of New Mexico) and Anna Haddock (Auburn University).

 

Division II

 

Vetter, a forward from Mankato, Minn., led the Mavericks in 2022 with 12 goals and 28 points. She was named a United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American and First Team D2CCA All-Central Region and All-NSIC honoree. A four-time Academic All-America® selection, Vetter is a junior with a perfect 4.0 GPA as a biology major at Minnesota State.

 

The Division II Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Division II Academic All-America® program.

 

Eighteen of the 34 members of the Academic All-America® Division II women's soccer teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 12 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.97.

 

Including Vetter, six student-athletes are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division II women's soccer team – Zoe Belding (Concord University), Michaela Dangler (Colorado Mesa University), Mary Kate Wyer (Cedarville University), Lila Dere (Colorado Mesa University) and Grace VerHage (the University of Hawai'i at Hilo).

 

Division III

 

A forward who hails from Bedford, Mass., Rennich led Westfield State with 23 goals and 53 points in 21 matches during the 2022 season. She helped the Owls to a MASCAC Regular Season Title and was named United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-Region. A two-time Academic All-America® selection, Rennich is a graduate student with a 3.99 GPA as a movement science major.

 

The Division III Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Division III Academic All-America® program.

 

Thirteen of the 36 members of the Academic All-America® Division III women's soccer teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.90.

 

Six other student-athletes join Rennich as a repeat selection on the Academic All-America® Division III women's soccer team – Elizabeth White (Case Western Reserve University), Ava Gillikin (MIT), Sarah Campbell (Wartburg College), Anika Washburn (Case Western Reserve University), Karenna Groff (MIT) and Niya Wilson (University of Wisconsin-Superior).

 

NAIA

 

Selvius, a senior midfielder from Grand Rapids, Mich., leads Spring Harbor with 14 goals, nine assists, and 37 points in 21 matches in 2022. She was named a Crossroads League First Team All-Conference Midfielder and helped guide the Cougars to a runner-up finish in the Crossroads League at 7-1-1. A two-time Academic All-America® honoree, Selvius is a senior with a spotless 4.0 GPA as a finance major.

 

The NAIA national governance structure is financially supporting the NAIA Academic All-America® program to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 NAIA Academic All-America® program.

 

Seven of the 22 members of the Academic All-America® NAIA women's soccer teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.91.

 

Five other student-athletes join Selvius as a repeat selection on the Academic All-America® NAIA women's soccer team – Maja Henriksson (Keiser University), Kyoka Koshijima (Keiser University), Hannah Crum (Aquinas College), Addie Adame (Georgia Gwinnett College) and Laura Navajas (University of the Cumberlands).
