Tigers Thwart No. 8 Firehawks

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team fell to Campbellsville in a 3-1 result on Friday, November 11.

In the opening half, the Tigers would jump out in front with a pair of quick goals to lead 2-nil. Just before the half, CU would add a third to hold a 3-nil advantage at the break. CU would lead in shots 13-5.

In the second half, the CU defense would hold the Firehawks at bay. With just under 10 minutes left, UTS would attempt to mount a comeback. MSC Player of the Year, Estelle Badoedana Ekada would find the net finishing a Suzuho Yamasaki pass to close the gap to 3-1. The Comeback train would run out of gas with CU victorious. The Tigers would outshoot the Firehawks 17-13 and would lead shots-on-goal 11-7.

Brooke Shavers recorded four saves allowing two goals. Layken Stockstill recorded four saves allowing one goal. Shavers took the loss in the match.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will await the NAIA championship field to be announced on Monday, November 14th at 11 a.m. UTS will host an NAIA Opening Round bracket on Thursday, November 17th and 19th at Grissom Pitch.
