PULASKI, Tenn. – The #7 University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team tied #14 Cumberland nil-nil on Thursday, October 27.
In the opening half, CU would be the aggressor firing 10 shots. Brooke Shavers would corral six saves in the half to keep the match level. CU would lead in shots 10-1.
In the second half, both teams would trade blows again. Neither team could cash in an opportunity to erase the zero on the board. The Phoenix would outshoot the Firehawks 16-4 and would lead shots-on-goal 7-2.
Shavers was brilliant with seven total saves.
MSC TOURNAMENT
The 2022 MSC Championship is set. On November 1st, seeds 6-11 will face off in the opening round. Here is a list of the matchups:
- #6 Thomas More will host #11 Pikeville; the winner travels to #3 Lindsey Wilson.
- #7 Bethel will host #10 Freed-Hardeman; the winner travels to #2 Tennessee Southern.
- #8 Shawnee State hosts #9 Georgetown; the winner travels to #1 Cumberlands
- #4 Cumberland hosts #5 Campbellsville; both get a bye to the quarterfinals.
