No. 7 Firehawks Shutout Shawnee State

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The #7 University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team won their fourth in a row in a 3-nil victory over Shawnee State on Sunday, October 23. 

In the opening half, UTS would score all three goals in the match. Inside the second minute, Kaitlyn Caminiti would net the game-winner from the Estelle Badoedana Ekada assist. In the 23rd minute, Gabrielle Forsythe would add a goal. Five minutes later, Ekada would net her 21st goal of the year of the Annah Norman helper. SSU would lead in shots 7-5. 

In the second half, the Bears would try to get back into the match, but the UTS defense held strong denying seven shots on goal. The Bears would outshoot the Firehawks 16-8 and would lead shots-on-goal 8-6.

Brooke Shavers would share the clean sheet with Layken Stockstill. Shavers recorded seven saves, and Stockstill would knock down one attempt. 

MSC TOURNAMENT

On November 1st, the MSC championship will begin. This year's edition will be held at higher seed sites for each round. Here is the tournament breakdown:

· Seeds 1-5 will get an opening round bye and will play in the quarterfinals on Nov. 4-5.

· The 6-8 seeds will host the lower three seeds on Nov. 1. The winners will advance to the quarterfinals.

· The semifinals and finals will be held at the highest remaining seed on Nov. 9 and 11.
