No. 6 Firehawks Fly by Bears

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The #6 University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team scored four goals in each half to clean sheet Pikeville in an 8-nil victory on Sunday, October 9. The Firehawks would see both Yuki Watari and Estelle Badoedana Ekada recording a hat trick and Anais Stephany recording a brace.

UTS would get on the board first in the 16th minute. Watari would finish the Izabelle Vazquez pass. The Firehawks would add another goal 12 minutes later. Ekada would score her first of the match with an assist from Gabrielle Forsythe. The final pair of first-stanza goals would be netted by Stephany with Watari and Ekada receiving helpers. UTS would lead in shots 17-0.

The second half was all Firehawks. Just 19 seconds into the period, Ekada would score from the Watari assist. Watari would add a pair five minutes apart both set up by Ekada. In the 60th minute, Ekada would net another shot from the Sara Casey pass. The Firehawks would outshoot the Bears 30-4 and would lead shots-on-goal 24-0.

Layken Stockstill recorded the win. She would not be challenged with a SOG.
