Ekada Nets a Pair, No. 4 Patriots Squeeze by No. 6 Firehawks

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The #6 University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team fell just short in a 3-2 loss to #4 Cumberlands on Wednesday, October 5. 

UTS would get on the board first in the 17th minute. Estelle Badoedana Ekada would finish the Ravynne Wilson pass. The Patriots would level the tally after an awarded PK in the 29th minute. Three minutes later, UC would net another shot to hold a 2-1 advantage at the break. Both squads would come up empty after the first 45 minutes. UTS would lead in shots 3-2.

In the 76th minute, Ekada would score her 25th of the year from the Kaitlyn Caminiti assist. UC would net the game-winner in the 87th minute to take the 3-2 lead. UTS would have many great looks down the final minutes, but the Patriots would squeak out the win. The Firehawks would outshoot the Patriots 9-7 and would lead shots-on-goal 9-7.

Brooke Shavers took the loss. She would allow a pair of goals and record one save.
