No. 5 Firehawks Explode in Second Half, Defeat No. 25 Tigers

PULASKI, Tenn. – The #5 University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team blazed three second-half goals to cage the #25 Campbellsville Tigers 3-2 on Saturday, September 24.

In the second minute, CU would get on the board with an Angeline Kieh goal. The Tigers would keep the Firehawks at bay. CU would hold the 1-nil lead and lead in shots 7-4.

The second half was filled with excitement. Just four minutes in, Estelle Badoedana Ekada would level the game with her ninth goal from the Anais Stephany assist. CU would fight back and take the lead again in the 68th minute. Lina Berrah would intercept a pass and put the Tigers ahead 2-1. Ekada would help level the match with a dazzling defensive play and well-placed pass to Yuki Watari. The Watari finish would find the post, but it would ricochet off the back of the CU keeper and into the net for her 5th score of the season. Five minutes later, Watari and Ekada would team up again to lift the Firehawks to victory. Watari's cross would freeze the CU keeper and allow Ekada to complete a brace. The Tigers would outshoot the Firehawks 15-10, and UTS would lead shots-on-goal 8-7.

Senior keeper Brooke Shavers recorded six saves on eight chances allowing a pair of goals. She earned her fifth win of the season between the sticks.
