No. 5 Firehawks Draw No. 22 Blue Raiders

PULASKI, Tenn. – The #5 University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team took #22 Lindsey Wilson to the final whistle in a 2-2 tie on Wednesday, Sept. 21. 

UTS would jump out in front when Estelle Badoedana Ekada would net her eighth score on the season from a well-paced pass by Ravynne Wilson in the 14th minute. The Blue Raiders would level the match with a 19-yard chip shot by Rayssa De Souza. Tennessee Southern would hold the shot advantage 13-5 at the break.

The Firehawks would again take the lead in the 53rd minute. A Blue Raider foul would award a PK for the Firehawks. Yuki Watari would blast the shot past the keeper to put UTS up 2-1. The Blue Raiders would not be done yet. They would net another shot in the 75th minute to equalize the match at two. UTS would outshoot the LWC 26-14 and would have the shots-on-goal advantage 11-9.

Brooke Shavers allowed two goals and recorded six saves. She would move to 4-2-1 on the season guarding the net.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will host #25 Campbellsville on Saturday, Sept. 24th at 1:30 p.m. The Tigers fell to #15 Cumberland 3-2 on Tuesday.
