FOLEY, Ala. – The #7 University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team used a pair of goals in each half to soar past #23 Georgia Gwinnett on Saturday, Sept. 17.
UTS would get on the board early as Estelle Badoedana Ekada tallied her team-leading seventh goal of the season from the well-played ball by Yuki Watari. Later in the half, Anais Stephany would fire one past the keeper from the Gabrielle Forsythe helper to hoist the Firehawks to a 2-nil lead at the break. Tennessee Southern would outshoot the Grizzlies 8-1.
The Firehawks would add two penalty kick goals in the second half. Watari would connect on both chances to extend the UTS lead to 4-nil. GGC would slip one past Layken Stockstill in the 73rd minute to break up the Firehawk clean sheet. UTS would outshoot the Grizzlies 13-6 and also hold the shots-on-goal advantage 11-3.
Brooke Shavers did not face a shot in over 53 minutes of action. She Improved to 4-2 on the year. Stockstill would allow one goal and record two saves.

The Firehawks will return to Grissom Pitch to open up MSC play hosting #21 Lindsey Wilson on Wednesday, September 21st at 4 pm. UTS routed the Blue Raiders 7-2 in Columbia last year.
