FOLEY, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team made it two in a row against #3 William Carey in a 3-2 victory on Thursday, September 15. This match was a close sequel to the 3-3 win in the 2021 NAIA National Title game played just nine miles away.   

WCU bounced out in front in the opening half on a 17th-minute goal by Julia Herbst. The Crusaders would lead in shots at the break 15-7.

The Firehawks would find the equalizer in the 65^th minute. Senior Isabelle Vazquez would notch her first score of the season. Later in the half, Estelle Badoedana Ekada would quickly complete a brace in the span of 23 seconds. Yuki Watari would be credited with an assist on the final Ekada goal. WCU would try to push for a tie result but would come up short. WCU would end the match with a 26-13 shot advantage, and UTS would take shots-on-goal 11-10.

Senior keeper Brooke Shavers took the win recording eight saves on 10 chances. Shavers would improve to 3-2 on the year.

The Firehawks will return to action on Saturday facing #23 Georgia Gwinnett on September 17th. The kickoff is set for 1:30 pm in Foley, Ala.
