Mid-South Conference Announces 2021 Women's Soccer Season Awards
Bowling Green, Ky. - The 2021 Mid-South Conference Women's Soccer season awards have been released, conference officials announced on Tuesday.
Tennessee Southern's Yuki Watari was named the MSC Player of the Year. Grace Morris of Cumberland (Tenn.) was named the MSC Defensive Player of the Year.
Tennessee Southern's Keito Ido was voted as the MSC Freshman of the Year while Campbellsville's (Ky.) Alex Adams was named MSC Coach of the Year. Tennessee Southern's Zach Crownover was named the MSC Assistant Coach of the Year.
Conference coaches vote on the seasonal awards along with the all-conference teams. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.
Watari led the conference and the NAIA with 21 assists and recorded a conference-high 14 in MSC play. She ranked third in the conference with 47 points and was sixth in total goals scored with 13.
Morris scored five goals and three assists from her defender position in 17 games. She is a part of a Phoenix defense that has allowed just a goal per game this season and has recorded seven shutouts.
In her freshman campaign, Ido sits atop the NAIA with 30 goals and 71 points. In conference play, she was tied for the lead in goals scored (16), assists (8) and points with 40 in 11 conference matches.
Adams guided his team to a 13-4 record and a 9-2 mark in conference play to earn the No. 3 seed in the tournament. Campbellsville is ranked No. 14 in the NAIA Coaches' Poll.
18 players earned first team honors with another 14 student-athletes earning a spot on the second team. 10 student-athletes earned Honorable Mention status as well.
