No. 3 Firehawks Hibernate Bears

Pikeville, Ky. – The #3 University of Tennessee Southern (10-0, 6-0 MSC) women's soccer team posted their second clean sheet of the week on Sunday with a 15-0 win over Pikeville.

The Firehawks posted three goals inside the first 14 minutes of the contest, then notched their other two scores of the first half. The Firehawks would score 8 goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half, and add two late in the contest.

Adisa Amang posted a team-high nine points on the afternoon, contributing goals in the 24th, 47th, 51st and 54th minutes. She assisted on Keito Ido's goal in the 26th minute. 

Ido scored a hat trick with two first hald goalsand a third third in the 60th minute. 

Yuki Watari got the Firehawks on the board with an early brace in the 8th and 11th minutes. Watari had three helpers. 

Estelle Badoedana Ekada added a hat trick in the second half. She scored goals in the 47th, 55th and 82nd minutes.

Mackenzie Stroebel had a second half brace with consecutive goals in the 53rd and 54th minutes. Strobel added two assists for six points.

Gabrielle Forsythe capped the win today off with a goal in the 84th minute.

Four Firehawks added assists: Suzuho Yamasaki had four assists, Tabitha Hatem added one, Lily Fisk had one and Hayden Galloway had one as well.

UTS ended up outshooting the Bears 38-1 in the contest. Keepers Gabby Kennedy and Brooke Shavers shared the clean sheet. Kennedy made the sole save in the match.

Coach Will Austin assessed the squads performance, "We are delighted to continue to have multiple people scoring and assisting. It has been a true team effort this year with our whole squad contributing well. All 22 healthy players have performed excellently this weekend."

UTS continues to put up impressive numbers and are reperesented on the NAIA individual leaders. Amang ranks 2nd in goals scored with 19, and Ido ranks 4th with 17. Amang leads the NAIA in asssists with 17. Amang also leads with 55 points on the season.

As a team the Firehawks are 2nd in goals scored with 65 and lead in Goals per game with 6.5. They rank 2nd in assists with 63 and 2nd in points with 193.

The Firehawks will return to Grissom Pitch for Senior Day against the Tigers of Georgetown. Kickoff is set for 6:30pm.
