No. 3 Firehawks Blank Bears

Portsmouth, Ohio - #3 University of Tennessee Southern women's soccer team completed their 5th clean sheet of the season and 3rd in a row with a 4-0 win against Shawnee State today.

The Firehawks (9-0, 5-0 MSC) scored quickly in the first half when Suzuho Yamasaki scored in the 7th minute with the helper of Keito Ido. UTS would add one more first half goal when Abbie Madden punched one home in the 19th minute. The Firehawks would lead 9-4 in shots and have a 2-0 lead at the half. 

Gabrielle Forsythe would get things going in the 77th minute with the help of Adisa Amang. Amang would add a late goal in the 89th minute from the boot of Yuki Watari. UTS outshoot the Bears 27-10.

Goalkeepers Gabby Kennedy did not face a shot in the first half, and Brooke Shavers added 4 saves in the second stanza.


Coach Will Austin commented on the win, "We were definitely not at our best tonight but proud of the team effort to get the job done. Was great to have 4 different goal scorers including 3 goals from midfield. Pleased to keep a third consecutive clean sheet."

The Firehawks will travel to Pikeville, Kentucky to meet the Bears on Sunday. Kickoff is set for noon.
