Blazing the Galaxy, Firehawks Win MSC Baker Shootout

RICHMOND, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's bowling team began their title MSC title defense with a top podium finish in the MSC Baker Shootout held at Galaxy Lanes this weekend.

The two-day format consisted of 20 baker games each day. UTS drew the afternoon squad for both days.

The Firehawks compiled 3,769 pins in the Saturday block averaging 188.45. UTS would be only ten sticks out of the top spot.

UTS got the stones rolling adding 3,897 pins on Sunday to take the victory by 150 sticks.

 

"We did really good both days", said coach Bill Holbrook, "we started out slow but as the day went on we caught fire. This was our first time out competing as a team and even though we are still learning from each other, we are pleased with the final results. I am proud of our ladies they showed grit and kept an unflappable mindset during the start of both days." 

 

BY THE NUMBERS

     14 – The Firehawks rolled 14 games over 210.

     256 – UTS posted a high game of 256.

     191.65 – Tennessee Southern averaged 191.65 for 40 baker games.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will travel to the queen city, Cincinnati, Ohio, to compete in the MSC Cincinnati Collegiate Classic. The two-day event will be held at Western Strike and Spare on October 22-23.
