Bio

Billy Evans begins his sixth season as the head coach of the Firehawk women's basketball program.

Evans took over the RedHawk/Firehawk womens basketball program prior to the 2018-19 season.

Prior to his tenure at Mobile, Evans spent 10 seasons as head coach at Belhaven (Miss.) University, a former SSAC member institution.

During his time at Belhaven, Evans helped guide the Blazers to a pair of SSAC Western Division titles and the 2012 conference tournament title. Evans also helped guide the Blazers to back-to-back national tournament appearances (2011, 2012) – the first national tournament berths in school history.

Prior to arriving at Belhaven, Evans spent the 2000-2001 season as an assistant with the Millsaps (Miss.) College women's basketball program.

Evans also served as Head Coach of the women's basketball team at Northwest Rankin High School (Brandon, Mississippi) from 1994-2000. While at Northwest, he compiled an overall record of 94-54, and took the 1999 team to the state championship game for the first time in the school's history.

Evans is a 1977 alum of Northeast Louisiana University, now known as University of Louisiana at Monroe.
