Goff Knocks Down 21, Crusaders Ground Firehawks

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's basketball team couldn't overcome a low scoring first quarter in a 82-42 loss to William Carey on Thursday. Takiyah Goff led the Firehawk offensive output with 21 points.

UT Southern (7-16, 4-12) was held to six points in the opening stanza. WCU led 24-6 after one.

In the second quarter, the Firehawks would trade buckets with William Carey (18-3, 12-3) led 37-18 at the break.

In the second half, UTS connected on nine of 28 field goals, but the Crusaders would continue to shoot the ball well. WCU outrebounded UTS 41-27.

NEXT UP

UT Southern will travel to New Orleans, La., facing #16 Loyola on February 17th. The matchup between the Firehawks and WolfPack will tipoff at noon. LU defeated UTS in Pulaski 76-66 earlier in the season.
