Goff Leads Firehawks With 15 Points, Firehawks Fall to Eagles

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's basketball battled tough but fell short to Faulkner 64-56 on Thursday. UT Southern (6-15, 3-11) jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Faulkner (15-11, 11-5) battled back with a three-point barrage to lead 18-13 after one. In the second quarter, the Firehawks fell down by 10 early in the quarter. UT Southern fought back with an 11-3 run to end the period trailing 30-28 at the half.

In the third, the Firehawks would take the lead at 31-30, but the Eagles would lockdown the UTS to lead 44-35 after three. In the final period, the Firehawks would close to within two, but Falkner would pull away in the final four minutes. UTS would outrebound FLK 31-27 and force 19 Eagle turnovers.

Takiyah Goff led the Firehawks with 15 points and five boards. Lauren Smith added 13 points and eight rebounds. Myah Sutton added 11 points. 

NEXT UP

UT Southern will conclude the final homestand of the season on Saturday, February 10th. UTS will host Point on senior day. The Firehawks and Skyhawks will clash at noon. The teams met earlier this season in West Point, Ga., PU defeated UTS 61-51.
