Four Firehawks Explode for 10 Points or More, UT Southern Wrecks Welch

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's basketball make it two in-a-row in a home game rout of Welch by the score of 74-44 on Monday. The pair met two days earlier with the Firehawks victorious 76-60 in Gallatin. UT Southern (6-14) drew first blood and never trailed in the game. The Firehawks shot nine of 16 for 56 percent to lead 19-11 after one. In the second quarter, UTS outscored WC 20-7 to begin to pull away 39-18 at the break.

In the second half, UT Southern and Welch (3-13) would trade buckets and the Flame would outscore the Firehawks 19-17 in the period. UTS would once again limit WC to seven points in the final quarter to cruise to a big win. UTS would outrebound WC 22-19 and force 26 Welch turnovers.

Kassidy Broussard led the Firehawks with 14 points and 11 assists. Takiyah Goff added 12 points. Myah Sutton added 11 points and four rebounds. Lauren Smith tossed in 10 points. Aaryn Grace Lester grabbed in eight points, added six rebounds, and eight assists.

NEXT UP

UT Southern will continue the three game homestand hosting Faulkner on February 8th. The Firehawks and Eagles will clash at 5:30 p.m. The teams met earlier this season in Montgomery, Faulkner defeated UTS 70-64.
