MARIETTA, Ga. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's basketball team was plagued by cold shooting in both the first and third periods in a 73-42 loss to Life on Wednesday. Kassidy Broussard and Myah Sutton led the Firehawk offensive output with 12 points each.
UT Southern (4-14, 3-10) was held scoreless until the four minutes left in the opening period. Life (17-5, 10-4) outscored UT Southern 14-5 after one. In the second quarter, the Firehawks would shoot 24 percent from the floor while the home team continues to torridly shoot 56 percent to lead 34-18 at the break.
In the second half, UTS only connected on two field goals as Life had another huge quarter. The Firehawks trailed 52-22 heading to the final period. In the final 10 minutes, UT Southern would shoot 8-18 for 44 percent, but the Runnin' Eagles bested them 21-2 in the period. Life outrebounded the Firehawks 44-35.
