Goff Leads the Way With 12, Firehawks Fall Short Against Barons

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's basketball battled with the Barons of Brewton-Parker but fell short 66-53 on Saturday. UT Southern (4-13, 3-9) scored the first six points in the opening quarter, but Brewton-Parker (14-8, 6-6) began to heat up and led 25-10 after one. BPC shot 50 percent from both the field and from range in the opening stanza. In the second quarter BPC cooled off thanks to some tenacious Firehawk defense. BPC led at the break 37-21.

In the second half, UT Southern's defense would hold the Barons to seven points in the third, and would cut the BPC lead in half to eight heading into the final period. Brewton-Parker dialed up the pressure, and they would open the fourth scoring the first six points. UTS would match the visitors shot for shot down the stretch but couldn't close the gap. UTS would outrebound BPC 28-26, and both teams would each have 15 turnovers.

Takiyah Goff led the Firehawks with 12 points. Myah Sutton added 11 points and six rebounds. Faith Eubank scored 10 points and pulled down six boards. Aaryn Grace Lester tossed in eight points, added six rebounds, and five assists.
