Sutton and Goff Each Score 11, Shorthanded Firehawks Fall to Tigers

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's basketball struggled while being shorthanded in a 65-44 loss to Stillman on Monday. UT Southern (3-12, 2-8) traded buckets back and forth with Stillman (8-7, 4-5) during the first quarter. SC led after one 18-16. In the second stanza, the Tigers would pull away leading 28-21 late in the half. The Firehawks tried to draw closer but trailed 34-27 at the break.

In the second half, UT Southern would fall victim to a combination of cold shooting and turnovers in key moments. Stillman outscored UTS 15-5 in the third quarter and 16-12 in the final period.

Myah Sutton and Takiyah Goff led the Firehawks with 11 points. 

NEXT UP

UT Southern will host their second SSAC opponent of the week on Thursday, January 25th, when Middle Georgia State comes to town. The Firehawks and Knights will clash at 5:30 p.m. The teams met earlier this season in Cochran, Ga., MGSC defeated UTS 70-62.
