Broussard and Goff Combine for 25, Firehawks Fall to Knights

COCHRAN, Ga. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's basketball team opened Southern States Athletic Conference play in a close game with Middle Georgia. The Knights outlasted the Firehawks 70-62 on Thursday night. Kassidy Broussard led the Firehawk offensive output with 13 points, and Takiyah Goff added 12 points in the loss.

UT Southern (0-3, 0-1) traded buckets with Middle Georgia (2-4, 1-1) and trailed 17-15 after the opening period. Both squads cooled off only hitting eight shots from the field as the Knights led 28-24 at the half.

In the third period, both teams began to heat up and combined for 42 points and for the second time in the match the home team doubled their lead. With an eight-point advantage in the final period, MGSC matched the UTS point for point to hold onto their lead.

NEXT UP

UT Southern will travel to Brewton-Parker on Saturday, November 18. The SSAC matchup between the Barons and Firehawks is set to tip off at 11 a.m.
