Lester Leads UTS with a Double Double, Firehawks Fall to Patriots

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's basketball couldnt overcome cold second half in a 74-41 loss to Cumberlands on Saturday.

Aaryn Grace Lester led the Firehawks, with a double-double, scoring 11 points and pulling down 10 boards. Mary Mackie added 10 points. 

Cumberlands controlled the first half with a pair of 22 point quarters. UTS hung tough with the Pats trailing 44-38 at the break.

The Patriots would outscore the Firehawks 30-13 in the final half to secure the win.

UTS would shoot 15 of 59 for 25% from the field. There would not be any lead changes or ties.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will close out the final road trip of the regular season, traveling to Henderson, Tenn. to play the Lions of Freed-Hardeman on Thursday, February 16th. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
