Mackie’s Seven Triples Fuel Firehawks in Close Loss to Blue Raiders

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's basketball fell in a close 50-46 game at Lindsey Wilson on Thursday.

Freshman Mary Mackie led all scorers with a career-high 23 points. Mackie dialed up long distance hitting seven triples. Senior Rachael Baker pitched in 13. Aaryn Grace Lester ripped down 11 boards in the match.

UTS would take control of the opening period leading 16-10 after one. The Firehawks would outscore the Blue Raiders 12-10 in the second to hold the 28-20 lead at the break. LWC would control the second half outscoring the Firehawks 30-18 to steal the game on their home floor.

UTS would shoot 16 of 51 for 31% from the field. There would be five lead changes and four ties.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will travel to Campbellsville, Ky. to take on the #4 Tigers on Saturday, January 21st. Tip-off is slated for 12 p.m.
