Four Firehawks Pen Double Digits, Firehawks Flatten Tornadoes

TALLADEGA, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's basketball snapped a four-game losing streak in a 65-39 blowout win against Talladega on Saturday.

Takiyah Goff led all scorers with 17 points. Sydney Cooper, Mary Mackie, and Destiny Newman each threw in 11. Cooper was one board shy of a double-double in the winning effort.

The Firehawks took the wind out of the Tornadoes early holding them to only 14 points in the first half. UTS would lead 34-14 at the break. TC would outscore UTS in the third 13-11, but the Firehawks would blast 20 points in the final stanza to bring the 26-point win back to Pulaski.

UTS would shoot 25 of 51 for 49% from the field. There would not be any lead changes or ties.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will begin the second half of the season on the road with MSC play. UTS will visit Pikeville on Thursday, January 5th. Tip-off is slated for 4:30 p.m.
