Baker Leads the Way with 13, Firehawks Come Up Short to Patriots

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's basketball dropped their third in a row in a 75-55 result with Cumberlands on Thursday.

Rachael Baker led the Firehawks with 13 points. Mary Mackie added 11 points. Takiyah Goff pitched in 10 points.

The Firehawks would trail the Patriots 14-12 at the end of the first period. UTS would start the second with a 3-0 run to take the lead, but UC would finish the period outscoring the Firehawks 17-6 to lead by 10 at the break. The third quarter would see both squads shoot 50% from the floor with UC extending their lead to 56-42. The Firehawks would begin the final quarter with an 11-3 run, but the Patriots would control the final four minutes to take the win.

UTS would shoot 22 of 62 for 36% from the field. There would be four lead changes and one tie.

The Firehawks will end the homestand hosting Georgetown on Saturday, December 17th. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
