Firehawks Run-Rule Ambassadors

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team continued the season series with Oakwood on Monday. The Firehawks took both games in five innings by the scores of 16-2 in game one and 11-1 in game two.

GAME ONE
Oakwood drew first blood in the second leading 1-0.

UT Southern answered back in the third to even the game at one. Haley Barnes singled to left center scoring Hanna Hill.

In the fourth, UTS would plate five runs. Hannah Lindsey would blast one out just inside the foul pole in left. Hill singled to second scoring Kassidy Davis. Hayley Parrott walked pushing Mikayla McCain across the plate. Barnes singled to left center scoring Hill and Alyssa Mosley. Oakwood would manufacture another run to trail 6-2 after four innings.

In the fifth, the Firehawks put a Hamilton on the board. Mosley drew a walk pushing Davis home. Kaley Ezell walked forcing McCain home. Parrott doubled to right center scoring Hill, Kaylyn Richardson, and Mosley. Lindsey singled to center scoring Parrott. Barnes would later score on a wild pitch. McCain singled to right scoring Lindsey. Mosley singled to right scoring Davis. Gracie Braden singled through the left side scoring McCain. UTS led 16-2 heading to the bottom of the fifth.

Macey Ciramella tossed the complete game allowing one earned run on five hits.

GAME TWO

The Firehawks continued to smash the yellow ball around the park. In the second inning, Abigail Hornbuckle doubled to left center scoring Ezell. Hill doubled to plate Hornbuckle. UTS led 2-0 after two innings.

In the fourth, Barnes singled to short driving in Hornbuckle. Oakwood would plate one run in the bottom half to trail 3-1.

In the fifth, UTS plated eight runs to end the game early. Ezell would smack an inside the park round tripper scoring McCain. Hill was hit by a pitch scoring Mosley. Parrott reached on a fielder's choice scoring Braden. Davis singled to center scoring Hill. McCain singled up the middle scoring Parrott. Ezell tripled to left center scoring McCain and Davis.

Jayci Boozer tossed the complete game. Boozer allowed one earned run on the hits and logged three strikeouts.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the final conference road trip of the year against Stillman on Friday, April 19th. The Firehawks and Tigers met earlier in the season in Pulaski. Stillman won 9-1 and 8-4. The First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
