Firehawks Light Up Nighthawks in Twin Bill Sweep

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team swept the double header with Thomas on Friday. UT Southern took game one 3-1 and game two 4-1.

GAME ONE

Thomas scored one run in the bottom of the sixth to lead 1-0.

The Firehawks would score three in the seventh to ensure the win. Haley Barnes singled scoring Allie Toone. Later in the inning Stella Gilbreath homered scoring Barnes.

Kassidy Davis tossed a complete game earning the win. Davis allowed one earned run on five hits.

GAME TWO

Thomas scored in the first inning to lead 1-0.

UT Southern added three runs in the fourth to take the lead. Kaley Ezell singled scoring Gracie Braden. Abigail Hornbuckle reached on a Nighthawks' error driving in Gilbreath. Hannah Lindsey reached on a Thomas misplay driving in Ezell. UTS led 3-1 after four innings.

In the sixth, Hayley Parrott doubled scoring Ezell.

Gilbreath got the start and tossed the complete game, claiming a win. She allowed one earned run on three hits.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will return to action on April 12th, hosting William Carey at Royce Hughes Field. The Firehawks and Crusaders met earlier this season, in Hattiesburg, with William Carey taking both games by the score of 7-0. The First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
