Firehawks Swept by Eagles

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team fell in a pair of games with Faulkner on Sunday at Royce Hughes Field. The Eagles took game one 8-1 and held on to win game two 3-2.

GAME ONE

Faulkner scored five runs in the third to lead 5-0.

UT Southern would get on the board scoring one run in the third. Kassidy Davis singled to left field scoring Hayley Parrott. UTS trailed 5-1 after three.

In the fourth, Faulkner would add three runs in the fourth to add to their 8-1 lead.

In the seventh, the Firehawks added two runs but couldn't muster up anymore. Hannah Lindsey singled to right scoring Allie Toone. Davis later singled up the middle scoring Lindsey.

Davis got the start and tossed 2.1 innings in the losing effort. She allowed four earned runs on seven hits. Ella Singletary tossed the final 4.2 innings allowing three earned runs on six hits.

GAME TWO

Faulkner scored a run in the first and a pair in the second to lead 3-0 after two innings.

UT Southern added one run in the fourth to cut into the Eagle lead. Kaley Ezell singled to left center scoring Lindsey. UTS trailed 3-1 after four innings.

In the seventh, Lindsey doubled off the top of the wall scoring Toone.

Jayci Boozer got the start and suffered the loss. Boozer tossed two innings allowing three earned runs. Bailey Abernathy threw the final five innings allowing four hits.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will travel to Middle Georgia on Thursday, March 28th, to battle the Knights. The first pitch is scheduled for noon.
