Firehawks Drop Pair with Eagles

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team fell in a pair with future Southern States foe Falkner on Wednesday. The Eagles took game one 7-4 and game two 6-1.

GAME ONE

In the fourth inning, Sydney Self scored on a Faulkner throwing error. UTS trailed 3-1 after four.

In the sixth, Branam doubled scoring Heidi Garner and Sydney Self. Later in the inning, Abigail Hornbuckle doubled scoring Branam.

Kamryn Murdock would take the loss. Murdock would toss four innings allowing five earned runs on five hits. Murdock would retire five Eagle hitters on strikes. Jayci Boozer would toss the final two frames allowing one earned run on two hits.

GAME TWO

Kaley Ezell would hit a sacrifice fly to center allowing Self to score in the first. UTS would trail after one 3-1.

Ana Aaron would take the loss. Aaron tossed four innings allowing five earned runs on eight hits. Stella Gilbreath would hurl the final two frames. Gilbreath allowed one earned run on three hits.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will return to the friendly confines of Royce Hughes Field hosting Lindsey Wilson on Friday, April 7th. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
