Firehawks Drop Final Pair with Pheonix

LEBANON, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team fell in the final pair of games with Cumberland today 11-5 and 7-0.

GAME TWO

Cumberland would scatter four runs through the first three innings.

Stella Gilbreath would blast a two-run homer scoring Kaley Ezell slashing the Phoenix lead to 4-2 after three and a half innings.

Mckenzie Cain would single driving in Emily Gable to cut the CU lead to 6-3 heading to the bottom of the fifth.

Gable would put one in play to score Abigail Hornbuckle in the sixth. UTS would trail 8-4 after five and a half innings.

Sydney Self would reach on an error in the seventh allowing Carlie Pendley to cross the plate.

Gilbreath would take the loss in three innings of work. She would allow three earned runs on six hits. Ana Aaron would toss a pair of innings allowing two earned runs on four hits. Bailey Abernathy would be tagged with two earned runs on one hit. Jayci Boozer would allow one earned run on two hits hurling one inning.

GAME THREE

In game three, The Firehawks could only muster up one hit.

Macey Ciramella would toss the complete game suffering her first loss of the season. She would give up seven earned runs on 11 hits.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will travel to Huntsville, Ala. to take on Oakwood on Wednesday, March 29th. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
