Firehawks Fall Short in Game One with Bears

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team fell in the series with Pikeville dropping game one 4-3. Game two was shifted to Friday, but mother nature decided that the second game must be finished on Saturday. UTS currently leads 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth.

GAME ONE

Trailing by one in the third inning, Mckenzie Cain would homer to center tying up the game at one. Later in the inning, Anisten Burleson would drive in Stella Gilbreath to lift the Firehawks up 2-1.

UTS would trail by two in the seventh and Kaley Ezell would single-scoring Sydney Self. UTS would have the bases loaded, but the Firehawks couldn't push another run across.

Ana Aaron would get the start in 5.2 innings allowing four earned runs on seven hits. Gilbreath would secure the final out recording a strikeout.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will close out the three-game series with Pikeville on Saturday, March 18th. The first pitch is scheduled for 12 pm CST but could change depending on mother nature. Game two will be resumed with game three to follow.
