Firehawks Split Final Pair with Tigers

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team split the final pair of games with Georgetown on Sunday. UTS ended game two early in a 9-1 rout of the home team. GC would take the rubber match 8-2 in seven. UTS ended the weekend moving their record to 5-7 (1-2) on the season.

GAME TWO

UTS would score early and often. Hannah Branam would draw a free pass after being hit by a pitch forcing in Makenzie Cain. Jayci Boozer would walk advancing Sydney Self. Hayley Parrott's sacrifice fly would plate Kaley Ezell. Emily Gable would plate Branam with her single. UTS would lead 4-0 in the first.

Ezell's extra-base hit would score Self. Later in the second, Branam would reach on a Tiger error allowing Ezell to score. The Firehawks would lead 6-1 after two innings.

Allie Toone's sacrifice bunt would drive in Parrott in the third. A few batters later, Ezell would single in Cain. UTS would enjoy an 8-1 lead after three.

Parrott would double in Anisten Burleson in the sixth.

Ana Aaron would toss the complete game allowing one earned run on four hits. She would strike out five in the winning effort.

GAME THREE

Georgetown would plate runs in the first, second, and fourth innings to jump out in front 7-0.

UTS would get on the board in the fifth. Cain would double in Gable and Bailey Abernathy to trail 7-2 after five.

Boozer would get the start tossing an inning and a third allowing four earned runs. Kamryn Murdock would hurl 2.1 innings allowing three earned runs. Macy Ciramella would work the final 2.1 innings allowing only three Tiger hits.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will return to Royce Hughes Field hosting Campbellsville for a weekend series beginning on Friday, March 10th. The first pitch is scheduled for 4 pm.
