Robb Earns First Career Win, Firehawks Split with Eagles

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team split a twin bill with former Southern States Athletic Conference foe Faulkner on Saturday at Royce Hughes Field. UTS took game one 6-5 and dropped game two 9-4. The game one win handed head coach Tyler Robb his first career coaching win.

GAME ONE

Hayley Parrott put the good gals in front with a sacrifice fly scoring Abigail Hornbuckle in the third. Hannah Branam's single put the Firehawks in the lead scoring Mckenzie Cain and Sydney Self. UTS led 3-2 after three.

The Firehawks would smokescreen the Eagles in the seventh. Anisten Burleson would double scoring Stella Gilbreath and Emily Gable to tie the game at five. Kayla Lawrence would walk it off with a double of her own plating Parrott.

Kamryn Murdock would get the starting nod hurling three innings. She allowed four hits, two earned runs. Jacyi Boozer closed out the game earning her first win of the year. Boozer allowed three earned runs and six hits.  

GAME TWO

Branam's double plated a pair as Self and Gilbreath scored. Firehawks trailed 3-2 after three.

Gilbreath would double in the fourth scoring Burleson. Faulkner led after four 5-3.

Burleson would plate Gable on a ground out in the seventh.

Ana Aaron would get the start. She would hurl 3.2 innings allowing four earned runs, four hits, and would strike out four. Macy Ciramella would toss 0.1 innings in relief giving up one earned run. Jacyi Boozer would finish out the game tossing three innings. She would allow three earned runs and four hits.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will travel to Dayton, Tenn. to face Bryan on Tuesday, February 14th beginning at 3 p.m.
