Tennessee Southern Blows By Bethel in MSC Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team began the MSC Championship final site with a convincing win over rival Bethel 7-1 today. UTS advances and looks to upset #3 Freed tomorrow at 11 am. The Firehawks never trailed in the matchup scoring in the first, third, fifth, and sixth innings.

The Firehawks (26-23) got on the board via a Wildcat error that allowed Hayley Parrott to score in the first. UTS would double the lead in the third on a Bree Brady single scoring Parrott. In the fifth, Bethel (22-27) would draw to within one on an RBI single by Thrasher. UTS would burst the balloon in the bottom half beginning with an RBI single by Parrott and a three-run bomb by Samantha King. The Firehawks would tack on one more in the sixth when Carlie Pendley would score on a wild pitch. King pitched a complete game allowing one Wildcat run on six hits. King tallied three strikeouts to improve to 13-5 on the year.
