PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team claimed an MSC Opening Round host site by splitting the series with Cumberland. CU took game three 3-0 but the Firehawks returned the favor with a 3-0 win in game four.
UTS honored eight seniors: Makenna Harwell, Bree Brady, Samantha King, Shelby Clifton, Karla Pena, Taylor Latham, Madi White, and Savannah Sands.
GAME THREE
- Sydney Self has a pair of hits.
- UTS struck out five times.
- The Firehawks left two on base.
- Sands took the loss falling to 5-9 on the year.
GAME FOUR
- UTS scored three runs on six hits. Hayley Parrott had two hits. Brady, King, Clifton, and Kayla Lawrence each added a hit.
- UTS had a pair of doubles, one by Parrott and one by Brady.
- The Firehawks left six on base.
- King threw a complete game shutout. She allowed three hits. King improved to 11-5 on the year.
NEXT UP
UTS will begin MSC Championship play April 29-30 at Royce Hughes Field. The Firehawks will face the Bears of Shawnee State in a best of three series. Game times have not been announced at this time.
